Real tube overdrive is produced by 3 Sovtek 12AX7WA preamp tubes while 2 - 5881s deliver 40W of real tube power. A 12-inch Celestion Vintage 30 speaker faithfully renders all that sweet tube tone. Wine-red leatherette, oatmeal grille, and chrome plated corners give it a rich boutique look. The 3 basic tones clean, crunch, and overdrive are easily defined, with great tone at low levels, shine and punch at full tilt. Although signal-to-noise is not normally a specification that is discussed where guitar amplifiers are concerned, the ultra-quiet Custom Valve 40WR makes it an issue.
